Our 5-Ingredient Simple Green Smoothie is the perfect example of how a few basic ingredients (spinach alert!) can turn into a nourishing green smoothie that tastes like spring, summer and autumn, all in the same glass. Definitely one of our easiest and tastiest recipes ever … Yes, it’s that good!
5-Ingredient Green Smoothie
For me, this green smoothie is a spinach smoothie with a twist. Let me explain …You see, many people don’t like eating spinach because of “the spinach taste”. Yet spinach is one of the most healthiest plants one can eat so we have to find a way to consume it, right?!
Luckily for you, even if you don’t like spinach, you’ll be able to enjoy this smoothie because the “spinach taste” is actually hidden by all the other ingredients that I included in the smoothie.
Here’s why you should try this green smoothie recipe. It’s:
Fun to make
Creamy
Refreshing
& Easy to drink
Pure green color
Cheap to make
Loaded with healthy nutrients
Nourishing
Good for you
Let’s break down the ingredients for our smoothie
Cucumber – It may not be the centerpiece of this smoothie, but cucumber is well known for its phytonutrients content, which have antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties. In addition, cucumber comes with vitamins and minerals, including electrolytes (magnesium and potassium) which are known to help with recovery.
Banana – Sweet and always creamy, banana adds a few carbs, a bit of protein, some minerals and lots of healthy fiber to our green smoothie. Last, but not least, it’s going to make your smoothie creamy, especially when combined with avocado.
Avocado – Avocado is responsible with most of the healthy fats in this smoothie. But avocado is also a good source of healthy fiber, vitamins and minerals (including electrolytes – potassium and magnesium). Not to mention that avocado and banana are the perfect combo for transforming any smoothie into a creamy and delicious smoothie.
Carrots – Carrots are vitamin A kings, we all know this. But there’s so much more to carrots: they are literally loaded with many vitamins and minerals, and have lots of antioxidants benefits. They’re healthy and good for you, either raw (this recipe) or cooked.
Spinach – One of the most potent leafy green plants you can have, spinach is loaded with insoluble fiber, plant protein, vitamins and minerals, plus lots of known and unknown phytochemicals (also called phytonutrients, they are plant compounds that have all sorts of beneficial effects, including potent antioxidants).
Turmeric, Cinnamon and Cardamom Powder – Also called Asian arming spices, these powders are literally superfoods. They are loaded with very potent phytonutrients (antioxidants included) so a little goes a long way here. As you may have noticed already, I use them all the time in my smoothie recipes.
Now that you know what goes into this simple green smoothie, would you care to give this recipe a try?
