With this recipe I wanted to do something different, so I used prunes and grapefruit instead of bananas. I also used frozen spinach, carrots, fennel or basil, plus chia seeds. The result was a green smoothie made up from just a few simple ingredients, yet loaded with healthy nutrients and having more than one taste. I loved it, my wife loved it, and we hope you’ll love it too.

Need more reasons to try it? It was:

  • 2 leaves fresh basil
  • 600-700 ml water

Notes

  • Color: spring light green
  • Texture: creamy and thick, easy to drink
  • Taste: well-balanced taste: greens taste + grapefruit, with a ginger + turmeric aftertaste

The secret to making this smoothie great is to use sweet prunes. Use locally grown prunes that are dark in color and have a rather soft texture. Don't be shy and test them, making sure they aren't sour.
Make sure to remove the skin in case your grapefruit is not organically grown. This is because conventionally grown grapefruits may have traces of pesticides in the skin.
