Ingredients for Healthy Raw Energy Snack

Making this easy vegan energy snack requires only 4 simple ingredients, as detailed below:

  • Pecans – Pecans will bring a mix of healthy fats, plant protein and complex carbs, as well as balanced micronutrients. These healthy nuts are the perfect match for all other ingredients present in our snack, namely dried fruit and dark chocolate. As an alternative to pecans you can simply use walnuts, and the taste and nutritional profile of this snack won’t change much.
  • Dried Figs – Rich in potassium and magnesium, dried figs also come with a few vitamins and minerals, plus complex carbs. The healthy fiber present in dried figs (and in all dried fruits) helps with digestion and absorption of nutrients. My advice is to buy organically grown figs that have been dried naturally, and are free of additives and preservatives.
  • Raisins – Like dried figs, raisins have a similar nutritional profile and provide the same health benefits. Health benefits are along the lines of good digestion, balancing blood sugar, immune function, and even good mood. For best results use organically grown raisins that are free of preservatives and additives (think sugar and oils).
  • Dark Chocolate – Choose a quality chocolate that has 85% cacao or even more. Real chocolate should only contain the following basic ingredients: cacao mass, cacao butter, natural sweetener and maybe natural flavor like vanilla.

  • 8 dried figs
  • 70-80 g raisins

Instructions

  • Add everything into a bowl and mix.

Notes

For best taste and more nutrients try using pecans, figs and raisins that are organically grown.
For health reasons use only unprocessed ingredients, free of additives and preservatives.
I used 85% dark chocolate but you can use any kind. I wouldn’t go below 70% chocolate or you’ll end-up with a treat that will be too sweet.
