JUMP TO
This simple and healthy snack is loaded with all sorts of “good for you” nutrients and it’s so easy to put together. You’ll only need some homemade yogurt and your friendly nuts. That’s it! Works perfectly as a quick grab breakfast, healthy snack or as a quick and easy recovery meal.
If you’re like me and you love yogurt and walnuts, then this combination might be just the thing for you. This recipe is all about combining two very special products (yogurt and nuts), this is not in any way a recipe for making yogurt.
When I was a kid I used to eat yogurt all the time. I would eat it with freshly baked bread (paine cu cartofi), with freshly made bagels (covrigi dobrogeni), or with a special kind of pie made with lots of cow’s cheese (placinta dobrogeana). I used to love that sour taste of freshly made yogurt prepared using healthy unpasteurized milk. This was before the time of industrially pasteurized and homogenized milk, a product which I simply avoid.
A dessert like no other
This recipe is another version of my childhood favorite, but this time I’m using walnuts instead of bread, bagels or pie. I’m not saying that we should simply forget about eating yogurt with pie, bagels or bread, I’m just saying that we should keep those moments for special occasions. For all the other moments, this low-carb treat might be the perfect match.
On one side you have your full-fat homemade yogurt, on the other side you have those healthy walnuts. It’s not good, it’s simply great!
Here’s why I like this little treat. It’s:
Easy to prepare
Brings back memories
It’s Nutritious
Low in carbs
Nourishing
Creamy
Crunchy
And SO Tasty
This treat is loaded with quality proteins, healthy fats, vitamins, minerals and enzymes, all the things that will give your system so much energy that you won’t know what to do with it. You can call it a breakfast, snack or a treat; it works great before or after training, between meals or served on cozy Sunday afternoon when you want to relax, when it’s snowing outside and you need to go out and shovel all that snow (for the second day in a row). Yes, that’s exactly what I did last winter, except that I shoveled snow 4 days in a row!
