3-Step Formula for Delicious Coffee To Go
We like buying regular coffee from the takeaway machine and add our own favorite extras … this is how we enjoy coffee to-go in Norway!
My simple 3-step formula for preparing Norwegian Coffee To Go goes like this:
- Find the best takeaway coffee in town (ideally organic or fairtrade coffee).
- Order a double espresso (the stronger, the better).
- Add your favorite extras (see my list below).
- DONE! Your healthy coffee to go is ready.
Popular flavors and extras that you can use to upgrade your takeaway coffee are:
- Full-Fat Cream
- Sour Cream or Crème Fraîche
- Regular Milk (full-fat)
- Coconut Milk (full-fat)
- Nut Milk (only homemade)
- Vanilla powder
- Cinnamon powder
- Butter (pasture raised)

Upgrade your coffee to go
Check-out my best tips to help you stay healthy and enjoy great takeaway coffee:
- Stay away from sugar, additives, preservatives, or fillers, in the extras that you’ll be using.
- Stay away from dairy products that are homogenized and pasteurized at high temperature, since these processes lower the quality of the milk or cream.
- Avoid store-bought nut milks because they’re loaded with sugars and water, and almost no nuts.
- Avoid soy milk due to being unhealthy overall, as well as loaded with sugar.
- Avoid cheap coffee because it will most likely ruin the whole experience.
- Aim to buy coffee that is either certified organic or fairtrade, since these certifications are a guarantee for quality coffee with the best flavor.
- Aim to buy 100% Arabica coffee, ideally from single source (ask the people selling the coffee).
- For best flavor, keep your coffee strong and warm.
Last;y, I would like to point out the importance of bringing the extras yourself. This way you’re not only preparing great coffee, but you are also taking responsibility for your health and your body will say “thank you” in its own way. Enjoy great coffee to go, friend!
