Green smoothies are my new love and this Spricy Green Springtime Smoothie is my gift to all smoothie lovers out there. I absolutely love this springtime green smoothie because it looks and smells so fresh and natural, while having a rather neutral taste of greens (kinds friendly) with an unexpected spicy aftertaste. It’s also creamy and easy to drink, and it’s one of those smoothies that feel nourishing snd “good-for-you”..

My new favorite green smoothie is made with over 15 ingredients and includes asian spices (turmeric, ginger, or cardamom), green veggies (bok choy, broccoli, cucumber), healthy fats (avocado and coconut oil), plus other plants that are “good-for-you” (think carrot, tomato, or mandarin).

This delicious green smoothie comes together quite nicely and I hope that you’ll decide to give it some smoothie love!

Why you should try this green smoothie

Here’s why you should blend this green smoothie yourself instead of buying a random smoothie from the store:

This green smoothie smells fresh and natural, and it’s made using healthy plant-based ingredients.
Making your smoothie at home means that you’ll be able to design and/or adjust your own recipe with your own choice of ingredients.
When it comes to the quality of ingredients used, you know exactly what you’re putting into your smoothie blend.
Homemade smoothies are easy to make and don’t cost much either.
You are in charge of the taste and texture, and can make your smoothie exactly as you like it.
Homemade smoothies are not pasteurized which means you will get all the nutrients from the plants that you’ll be using.
These smoothies are always packed with an assortment of vitamins, minerals, healthy fats, enzymes, fiber and phytonutrients (including antioxidants).
It’s easy to use organic ingredients when you prepare your smoothie at home.
Store your newly made smoothie in the fridge and drink it later or even the following day!

Pro Tip: Use the best ingredients that you can and get organic ingredients when possible. For a refreshing blend, make sure to use frozen broccoli as I did.

Keep in mind that one smoothie a day will keep disease away!

Equipment

  • Blender

Ingredients

  • 2 medium avocado (skin and seed removed)
  • 1 small bok choy
  • 1/2 cucumber fabio
  • 2 medium carrots
  • 1 tomato
  • 1 mandarin (skin removed)
  • 200 g frozen broccoli
  • 1 tsp turmeric powder
  • 1 tsp ginger powder
  • 1 tsp cardamom powder
  • 1 tsp cinnamon powder
  • 2 tsp raw cacao powder
  • 1 tsp wheatgrass powder
  • 1 slice lemon
  • 1/2 tsp Himalayan salt
  • 500-600 ml water

Instructions

  • Wash and prep all the ingredients as indicated. Adjust the quantities according to your needs, just make sure you don’t add more spices (it’s already a spicy smoothie).
  • Blend everything on medium to high speed until you get the desired texture.
  • Serve fresh or store in the fridge for max 2 days.

Notes

My smoothie turned out to be a bit spicy due to using (maybe) a bit too much ginger powder. Keep this in mind when blending yours!
