Ingredients list for this raw snack

Making this easy raw vegan snack requires only 3 simple ingredients, as detailed below:

Walnuts – For the most delicious snack ever, make sure to use raw walnut halves (free of additives or oils). The most delicious and nutrient-rich walnuts are those that have a pale yellow color, which means they are fresh and come with more digestive enzymes. Before using them for putting together this snack, you have the option to “activate” the walnuts by placing them in a bowl of water with a bit of salt. This process will remove part of the anti-nutrients (enzyme inhibitors) and will activate the digestive enzymes found naturally in nuts.

Dark Chocolate – My advice is to choose a quality chocolate that has 85% cacao or more. This snack will be sweet enough from using dried figs so there’s not point in ruining the flavors with added sugar contained in sweet chocolate. Keep in mind that quality chocolate is only made of 3 or 4 ingredients, and these are: cacao mass, cacao butter, natural sweetener (optional), vanilla extract (optional).

Dried Figs – For best results use organic dried figs that are free of added sugar or any kind of additives. Some of the dried fruits found on the market have preservatives added to them or worst, they are dried using unnatural industrial processes. The best way to make sure that you get quality dried figs is to buy organic dried figs.

Easy raw vegan snack or dessert made by using just 3 simple ingredients in under 1 minute. Refined-sugar-free, vegan and gluten-free, and seriously satisfying.

Equipment

  • Bowl

Ingredients

  • 50-75 g walnuts (halves)
  • 50 g dark chocolate (85% or more)
  • 100 g dried figs

Instructions

  • Add everything into a bowl.
  • Serve and enjoy!

Notes

How to activate walnuts: Place raw walnuts in a bowl, cover with water and add a bit of salt. Leave for at least 2-3 hours (ideally 6 hours) until nuts have changed color to a pale yellow. When activated, nuts will become softer and easier to chew.
For best results, try using organic walnuts and figs, and choose only quality dark chocolate.
I used 85% dark chocolate but you can use any kind. I wouldn’t go below 70% chocolate or you’ll end-up with a snack that is loaded with sugar.
Make sure that you’re using dried figs that are free of additives or preservatives.
