Only 3 Ingredients

Making this easy raw vegan treat requires only 3 simple ingredients, as detailed below:

Walnuts – For one of the most delicious and healthy treats out there, use raw walnut halves that are free of additives or added oils. The most delicious and nutrient-rich walnuts are those that have a pale yellow color, which means they’re fresh and have more digestive enzymes that help with digestion. Quality walnuts are a bit sweet and super fresh walnuts have a very light bitter taste. You also have the option of buying walnuts in their natural form (with shells) and use a nut cracker to crack them open as you consume them.

Raisins – For best results use organic raisins that are free any kind of additives like sugar, oils, preservatives or fillers of any kind. Some of the raisins found in supermarkets have preservatives added to them or worst, they’re’ dried using unnatural industrial processes. The best way to make sure that you get quality raisins is to buy organic or at least to read the label before buying, making sure that you only get unprocessed raisins.

Dark Chocolate – My advice is to choose a quality chocolate that has at least 85% cacao or even more. This treat will be sweet enough from the raisins so there’s not point in ruining the flavors by making it even sweeter. Don’t forget that chocolate which is too sweet (that is below 70%) can take its toll on your teeth and overall health. Lastly, keep in mind that quality chocolate is made from just 3 or 4 basic ingredients: cacao mass, cacao butter, natural sweetener (optional), vanilla extract (optional).

Easy raw vegan treat made in under 1 minute using just 3 simple ingredients that you already have in your pantry. Free of added sugar, vegan and gluten-free, and seriously satisfying!

Equipment

  • Bowl

Ingredients

  • 100 g walnuts (halves)
  • 50 g dark chocolate (85% or more)
  • 100 g raisins

Instructions

  • Add everything into a bowl.
  • Serve and enjoy!

Notes

How to activate walnuts: Place raw walnuts in a bowl, cover with water and add a bit of salt. Leave it for at least 2-3 hours (ideally 6 hours) until walnuts have changed color to a pale yellow. When activated, walnuts will become softer and easier to chew, but will also have more digestive enzymes.
For best results, try using organic walnuts and raisins, and choose only quality dark chocolate.
I used 85% dark chocolate but you can use any kind. I wouldn’t go below 70% chocolate or you’ll end-up with a treat that will be too sweet.
Make sure that you’re only using unprocessed raisins, free of additives or preservatives of any kind.
